MEET THE POWER COUPLE

Rick and Mariana took over the gym during the pandemic after the retirement of the previous owner, Richard Perez. Together, they’ve worked hard to bring a sanctuary for students in Manteca where they can be proud of who they are while they work to become a confident boxer.

COACH RICK

Coach Rick started his passion for boxing as a kid learning to spar with his grandpa in Olivehurst, California. After moving to Oakland, Coach continued training at the legendary King’s Boxing Gym. Due to life circumstances, he wouldn’t get back into the ring until moving with his family to Manteca, where he met boxing trainer Richard Perez. Admiring his commitment and his attitude to helping others, Coach Perez began having Rick assist in training boxers and eventually transferred ownership to him when he retired. Coach Rick has been dedicated ever since to making sure boxing can be a sport for anyone in Manteca to take on.

MARIANA “MRS. COACH”

Mariana is in charge of everything outside of the ring. The first person you talk to when you sign up, “Mrs. Coach,” a title the boxers have crowned her, helps everyone get set up at the gym, plans events, and assists boxers in signing up to compete at the amateur and professional level. Mrs. Coach will always be there to support you with what you need to meet your best self.
